Could you give us a short description of what you do at Sogeti?
As a Business Development Manager, my job is to improve an organization’s market position and achieve financial growth. I have to define long-term organizational strategic goals, build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate, close business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. my job is to work with our internal operational and HR team, most of the time, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for our organization. To achieve this, I need to find potential new lead ultimately convert them into clients, and continue to grow business in the future.
As every Business Development Manager my main task is also to manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive about our services. That’s why I have to call my clients, often being required to make presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict my clients’ future needs.
Tell us a bit about your background:
During my studies, I had the chance to do trainings and to work into different jobs, I quickly realized that I was made for work and not to studying. My professional life started almost 4 years ago in London, I had the opportunity to work as a Marketing Assistant for a clothing website. It was a great experience, but I was more interested in the commercial part, after less than one year, I had the opportunity to work for the headquarter of one of the biggest oil company in Luxembourg as a Customer Promise Specialist. Curious by nature and a thirst for learning, I heard about this big IT company, and the adventure is still here since almost 3 years now…
What are you most passionate about in your area of expertise?
As a BDM, and as I’m passionate about the human relations, it is the best thing in the area of selling. It is not always about dealing or selling, it is first of all, understanding the client’s need, his point of view on many things and how we can help them to be more successful and competitive, there is a key for that : the communication. Build a strong relationship with our client is the first step to gain his trust.
What is a typical workday like for you?
Every day is different and unique. There is always something new happening. I’m always between the office and the client’s place. You meet different people from different environment, then you come into the office and you get excited to introduce to the technical and operational team a new project you have just talked with your client. Sometimes you can meet the client with the technical team when you need a technical support.. It’s always different, that’s why I never get bored of my job.
