HEALTH STATISTICS

Inequality in access to healthcare and quality health services are major issues for modern societies. Several international actions support the reduction of disparities in access to, and quality of healthcare.

To assess health issues, target future actions and design effective policies, the collection and analysis of statistical information is instrumental, provided the data collected are relevant, respect the relevant quality criteria and allow comparability between countries.

Sogeti provides statistical and methodological consultancy on health, with special reference to the EU context. Besides having its in-house team of experts, Sogeti is part of an international network of scientists and public health experts from universities and public entities, and can mobilises experts of its network to implement international projects on health issues.

Since the early 2000’s, Sogeti provides different EU institutions with technical and methodological assistance for the implementation of surveys on health issues, the analysis of the outcomes and the dissemination of the results.

Having gathered firsthand experience of majors EU surveys on health-related subjects as coordinator, data analyst and methodological specialist, Sogeti’s inhouse team of expert provides solid expertise on:

• Data management and analysis of information on disabilities and healthcare;
• Data validation and quality control;
• Computation of indicators on health and disabilities;
• Dissemination of information through paper and digital publications.

Since 2010, Sogeti leads a Consortium working for the European Commission’s Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA). As such, Sogeti has taken part in several studies aimed at producing well-structured and informative reports of high scientific quality. The topics already tackled include:

• Cross-border cooperation for high-cost capital investments in health (2014);
• Cross-country pharmaceutical product pricing (2014);
• Cost/benefit analysis of self-care systems in the European Union (2013);
• Policy mix for the reimbursement of medical products (2012);
• The 2003 Council Recommendation on the prevention and reduction of health-related harm associated with drug dependence, in the EU and EU candidate countries (2010).

From January 2012 to April 2014, Sogeti was in charge of the coordination of the European Health and Social Integration Survey (EHSIS), which was successfully conducted in 29 countries: the EU-27 Member States, Iceland and Norway.

Recently, Sogeti was also involved in the project on the Pharmaceutical Health Information System (PHIS) coordinated by GÖG (Gesundheit Österreich Gmbh). As part of a larger consortium, Sogeti actively provided up-to-date information and content on medicines and contributed to the development of a sustainable European Health Information and Knowledge System.

During five years, Sogeti managed the data of European Statistics on Accidents at Work (ESAW) for Eurostat. In 2009, Sogeti conducted for the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion an in-depth statistical analysis of the aforementioned data, analysing the causes and circumstances of accidents at work in the European Union.
